Question I tried to search but can't find the method

Looking for instructions to make backing fabric either wider or longer... I know that there is a diagonal seam involved but can't remember anything else about it. Thought I had it bookmarked but if I do can't find that either!
Can anyone help?

What I think you are looking for is the John Flynn diagonal back method -- it uses less fabric than the straight cuts for most of the smaller quilts. I love it since I don't run into seams when I FMQ. Here is the link to the calculator:
