    Hello! Thanks for looking.

I'm making this table runner for my grandmother for Christmas. You can see what I have so far! I'm hoping to finish the top tonight and quilt it this weekend.

My skill level is beginner. I have done 1 quilt (SID) and three rag quilts. I have practiced a little FMQ on little sandwiches and I'm not opposed to trying some on this...but I don't know what to do!

Any specific ideas for something simple and pretty for this runner?
I bought red and a natural colored thread for quilting in the different sections (not aiming for high visibility!!)

This is the completed runner. Quilting like this is out of the question!

How about expanding your skills and trying an overall meander?

Make yourself a big sample block for practicing free motion quilting on. Little blocks don't give you enough space to loosen up and create!

    Then, GO FOR IT!!!

I agree that an overall meander will look beautiful.

Meander in the middle and some free hand in the last border. SITD too before you get to the last border. Very pretty--love the color.

Do you mean SITD the pieced border--around all of the pieces? Or just between the red and the pieced border (for a big rectangle all the way around...)?

Thanks everyone!! :) :) I think the meandering sounds good! I will be practicing some later.

FMQ not going well. I just think I need a lot more practice...

So, any ideas for non-free motion quilting on this project??
