I really like your quilt and all the effort that went into it to tell your daughter how much you love and appreciate it. As for color choices, I think I would choose darker colors (some you have already used in the main body of the quilt) for sashing and borders. Which are her favorites?

I Really like that quilt; very cute. Is there a pattern or did you create this on your own. IF your creation - you are very creative. I too had trouble reading the 'loved'. But maybe when you quilt it use a dark color to outline the letter/words. It's wonderful. My daughter would love it. Yours will too.

I only do turned edge applique and machine sew but I have found that starching the pieces generously will eliminate puckering on the bigger pieces. Please share when completed.

This is a wonderful quilt for your daughter. I’m sure she’ll treasure it.
You did better than me - I had to go back and look as I didn't realize they were words - the other two popped so well I thought it was just a design between them.

I thought the word beautiful didn't stand out well either, the word loved looks much better in person. I am using variegated thread for the applique and the blue I am using has a lot of dark blue in it. I think that will make the word beautiful pop a lot more when I do the blanket stitching - same for the green lettering. But if it doesn't, I can always make a different block with darker lettering. When I tested the blue thread against the blue fabric I used for the lettering, it did stand out. So we'll see! There are a few blocks I am thinking about remaking anyway! Thanks so much!

The pattern is called "Dear Daughter" by Sherri Noel. I have yet to design my own quilt, but I do hope to make that happen someday soon. I have ideas in my head, I just need to get them on paper! I will post pictures of that block once I do the applique, hopefully the letters will pop with that darker variegated thread. Thanks!!

Her favorite color (right now), is purple!! I think I will go for darker as well. I have a feeling I am months away from borders.... I wish I had more time. Thank you so much!
