Several years ago in another quilting group (different website) I
was having a particularly rough time with my dad for the most
part I wasn't saying anything about it to my "online quilting friends"
Than one evening there was about 15-20 of us ladies in the chat
room and one of them asked about my dad. I guess that was what
broke the "proverbial" camels back with me.
I started crying and was very upset but of course the ladies couldn't
see me, but they could tell from the way I was replying and answering
them that I was very upset.
Long story short I apologized to them and thanked them for letting
me vent my frustrations to them.
About 3-4 months later I received a box in the mail from New York.
I knew who it was from and just thought Missy was sending me some
cool fabric (i was always sending them all a little something as a RAK).
When I opened this box I was so shocked at what I found inside with
a note that all the ladies had sent to the "organizer" of the quilt I received.
Each one of the ladies sent me a personal message as well as made a block
to be included in the quilt. There was 9 blocks total with one of them being
a signature block.

My DD made a signature quilt for my 70th birthday. She highjacked my e-mail list, contacted everyone on it. All who responded were sent a block to sign. That one brought tears. I reread all the blocks frequently.
I also have a T-shirt quilt she made for me. I'd had a pile of shirts for years that I was going to use for a quilt "someday". She finally got tired of looking at the pile, took them and gifted me with the quilt for Mother's Day later that year.

When my son was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, I was overwhelmed. I nearly got rid of all my quilting stuff, I was so overwhelmed. My mother took a small quilt top that I had pieced with my sons' baby clothes and she paid for the church quilting circle to hand quilt it. It is my favorite gifted quilt.

Any kind of quilt, that someone made with me in mind would make my eye's light up and warm my heart. I have been making quilts since the mid 70's and gifting them to my family and friends. I have a store bought one on my bed.

I have several quilts that were given to us. My most treasured quilt is the one my mother did birds in counted cross-stitched and hand quilted for me. It is absolutely gorgeous. I just love getting things that are hand made. Just shows the love that person has for you.
