I love my 1600. I use a ball point needle to FMQ on it cuz I had trouble with thread breaking. Fixed my problem like a dream. I also have a Tin Lizzie longarm.

almost all the time---if your machine is skipping stitches/sewing uneven stitches IT NEEDS A NEW NEEDLE! your needle should be changed with every project (or after 8 hours of sewing time) uneven stitching is the #1 thing that happens when your needle is dull-
a good cleaning after every second bobbin change will keep things nice too.
