I needed a replacement for my 1/4" foot which mysteriously walked away during my move last fall. I had checked on Amazon and saw a Janome on sale but wasn't sure if it was the right one so I whipped off an e-mail to this sew vac place. In the interim, I decided to just go to Sears and get a replacement for my Kenmore/Janome made. When it came time for shipping charges it was close to $7. I rebelled. Ended up e-mailing back and forth with a rep. who I asked why this little snap-on foot couldn't be put in a small padded envy and sent at a reasonable rate, he was gone for some time, came back online and said, "so, you want it shipped free?" I said "no, I want it shipped at a reasonable price", he's away again for quite a while, back, "I'm sorry , we can't do that, the shipping is what it is". I said Goodbye. Went to my e-mail box and there was an e-mail from the sew-vac guy that no, it wasn't the right one, but gave # for the right one and said how much it would be for foot and ship. Cost a little over $2 for shipping. I will order from this guy if ever I need another foot. Companies being inflexable on shipping evidently don't need our business. IMHO

Wow, what a waste. I've ordered things before and the shipping is really a lot added to the price. Before I order, I see how much the shipping will be and often wonder why they just don't put it in a padded envelope. I think I know why. They make more money on the postage than they do on the purchased item.

I don't know if that is true or not. But I don't order just one item from a company. I try to order several things if they have a one price shipping policy. If I can't find other things to order, I won't buy the items from that company. I would either go without or go to Joanns with a coupon.

Perhaps the company gets such low shipping rates due to high volume shipped that it actually cost a pittance to send this. You can't see the cost from the label as its calculated on their weekly bill.
