    I agree!

I've wondered the same thing as sometimes people post rather "caustic" remarks how someone has an "obligation" to give away so much of her stash as she has "too much to use" in a lifetime, etc.

No one has that opinion about figurines (think Hummels), sets of china, etc. Many people collect things that their families will have to deal with after they die, and yet you don't hear people telling them "Please sell this when you get to be 70 or 75 so I don't have to deal with it after you die" do you? Would you tell your mom or dad to sell something that brings them pleasure every time they look at it, just so you as the child, don't have to deal with it?

Maybe I would if I lived closer to my parents I would. :)

    Ditto for replacing zippers!
A-freakin-men!! I *DESPISE* repairs & alterations. In fact, I had maternity dress slacks that I stopped wearing when my feet were too swollen for heels, because they were too long to wear with flats, and I didn't want to be bothered with hemming them...

Amen for live and let live. (I'd like to be called a fabric artist too. An artist needs her supplies).

When my mother died, she left behind tons of books - mostly hard covers. I took what I wanted, my brother did too and most of them went to her local library for their summer sale. It was a lot of work packing up all of those boxes and believe me, those boxes could get heavy but all I could think of was the pleasure she got from them. (Most of them, she bought used throughout her life). She passed on her love of books to me.
The love of fabric, well, I'm not sure where that came from!
