tried the back up one and it doesn't work either.

I always said if I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all.

I never abused the sewing machine just sewed blocks with it out of cotton.

Oh well, life goes on and I'm still crying. I was working on a quilt for my granddaughter.

To use my 1/4" foot the needle has to be put in the center position or it will hit the foot and break .

I had the same thing. They sold me the wrong foot. If you have a machine that does zig-zag, you need a foot with a wider opening for the needle to go through.

It wasn't the foot it is the shaft that is inside of the machine that holds the feet onto.

Pojo, if it makes you feel any better - you have company. I had just started to sew this evening when (I think this is what happend) the needle jumped to the side a bit, hit the needle plate and seized up! The needle will NOT move! I've tried everything I know, so now I'll have to take it in for repairs. Boo Hoo! You can cry on my shoulder if I can cry on yours.

bummer - you have a friend that would let you borrow a machine so your little girl's quilt gets done?
