Hi - I recently volunteered to make quilts for a new transitional living home for homeless mothers and their children. My problem is that I've just been approved for double knee replacement surgery (which is a good thing) and will be going to the lower 48 to be with family for the surgery and recovery period. This is also a good thing, however, it means that I'll be out of my home quilting environment for an extended period of time.

If you have any finished lap size or smaller quilts to get rid of, or want to make any, I'll pay you a nominal fee for them. I'm not expecting any complicated quilts, just something the child can call their own. The kids are expected to be all ages up to teens, but we never know for sure how many or what ages at any given time. I'm hoping to get enough in stock that the on-site manager can let each child pick their own out of the stock.

If you are interested in helping, PM me and let me know the situation. Any finished quilts can be shipped to:

    Anchorage City Church
    ATTN: Beacon Hill
    1301 W 100th Ave.
    Anchorage, AK 99515

We're not advertising the address of the home because some of the women may be trying to escape a bad home situation.

I'm not leaving until July 15th, and could even ship out some fabric and/or panels that I've got on hand for some of the younger kids quilts. Fleece backing and no batting is fine for some, flannel, etc..

    Thanks for considering helping.

Please let me know how I can help you. Are you going to be coming to the Seattle area for surgery? I am only about a hour from Seattle.

    Thanks,

thanks so much. I can send you fabric, or just pay you for what you make, whichever is easier for you. Unfortunately I can't take my stash with me (and this was an effort to use up my stash!), which is why I'm offering to send money for fabric. I guess it's up to you to determine what works best for you. Any completed quilt can be sent directly to the church at the address in the main message.
