Went to a quilt show in Greenville TX. Sat. Drove a couple of hours to take my budding quilter granddaughter. We had a great time. Wonderful quilts, a bed turning of 21 antique quilts from the 1850-1870's mostly. Lovely people from the Cotton Patch Quilting Guild(Hope it's ok to mention their name). Saw antique hank crank machines and GD got to sew on one. AND I won a Moda layer cake w/ 42 fabrics. Yeah!
So My question is... have you won anything and what have you won as a door prize at a quilt show?
PS Won't mention got lost and did a stupid turn right when a Statie was at the same intersection. Only got a warning ticket. I never get tickets. He was very nice.

I have never won a thing in my life! I take that back when I was 13 I entered a drawing for a complete wordrobe in the teen dept. of the local clothing store. I won!!Yeah went to clame it only to discover it was for the baby department! They never did explaine why the sign up was in the teen dept.(wonder why they went out of business?) LOL When our state started scratch ticket lottery I bought a ticket every time I went to the grocrey store, twice a week. After 2 years of not even winning a play back I relised I had wasted $208 I could have used I quit buying lottery tickets, havent entered anything or bought tickets sence. Seams to be a waste of time and money for me. LOL

I haven't won anything lately, or at a quilt show. But I did win a cordless telephone in the early '80's from a radio station, and a Brother Innovis 1000 from Artistic Thread Works embroidery. I use this as my back-up machine.

I won a baby girl. Let me explain. When we were hoping to adopt a baby, the adoption agency usually only placed about 20 babies per year. They sent a letter saying that it was too hard to explain their lottery system by letter and to call them for more detailed information. I called them on a Friday morning and they explained that they usually only opened the list for potential adoptive families once or twice a year and that to get on the list, you had to call in every morning and ask if the list was open. I asked how soon I should start calling and the social worker said that she would recommend I start calling on Monday. I thought it sounded pretty sketchy to me, but after discussing it with my then husband over the weekend, we decided it was worth a shot. My boss was in on Monday, so I couldn't make a personal call, so hubby called the agency and called back to tell me we were on the list. What he didn't think to ask at the time was which list we made, the list to adopt an infant or the list for a child over 3. We decided we really didn't care. One year, one week and one day after receiving the initial letter back from the agency we picked our daughter up from the adoption agency. She was a month old the day we picked her up. She just turned 30 last week. She has brought so much joy to our lives and is the best lottery prize ever!!

I think quilter in the making has won the best of the best prize! I did buy tickets for the raffle quilt at the Hattiesburg MS show, and I could hardly believe my good fortune when I won the quilt that I think people here on this board even helped make! It is so beautiful!!!!!
