When we cleared out my in-laws belongings, we found this quilt top. My dh says he doubts my mil did it, and I never came across a sewing machine, tho my sil may have taken it earlier...doubt that, too. Sorry the photos aren't better. I have had it since about 1988, don't know how long she had it. There is only one tiny spot that might need to be resewn.

My MIL didn't have a machine either, but she made quilts all by hand sewing.

i believe if you research Kansas City Quilts, you will find out more info on this quilt. They published their patterns in the newspaper. It could have an interesting history.

I was just noticing that altho the baskets are all the same, the way the flowers are made, each is different, stems, etc. I had only thought, briefly looking at before, that each flower head was different, but I see now that each is completely different.

Gorgeous! The idea of using that much aqua would never have occured to me but it created a beautiful quilt. The flowers really stand out. How are you going to finish it?

This is sort of what I thought when I saw it. It looked like a pattern that I had seen before maybe one in a newspaper .

beautiful, I remember seeing one similar years ago, My aunt did it by hand. Never know where it got to, she passed in '83. She also did one where she croched triangles and stitched them to the base or bowl of the basket. This is so lovely. Thanks for sharing Blessings, Ruth

If it were mine, I'd already be hand quilting it. It's beautiful! Quilt tops like this have me just itching to hand quilt every time I see one that's unfinished!

It is a very nice quilt. It took someone a long time to make it, I bet.

Elanor Burns "re" published her version of this quilt around 1998-2000.
