Default Irish Chain for DH

This is the most controlled quilt I have ever done. Three fabrics. It is for my DH and is using his favorite BB team colors. Do you have ideas on quilting? I was thinking lines through the small squares and a center motif in all the gray areas. Do you think gray thread will blend in the yellow and blue or should I try finding yellow and blue thread? I don’t want to use gray if it will distract from the design.

i think the gray would be fine since it is a 'neutral' color. if I had the right colors, though, i would match the others

Grey is a good blender colour. What about quilting a basketball in the big grey squares?

Don't have any idea of what color to use for your quilting design. Just wanted to tell you your top is very nice and so manly looking with the colors. Your DH will love it.

I like this idea too. I googled basketball quilting design and a few ideas show, some with just a ball, some more complex with a hoop as well.

Why not look for a blendable thread, something like this one? https://www.threadart.com/product/17...-mediterranean or one of these https://www.sulky.com/catalog/sub/th...ton/30wt-blend

Thank you all for your suggestions. I like the idea of a basketball motif. I had thought of that but it seemed hard but I will look again online. The variegated thread in blue gold interests me. Hmmm. Fun things to think about. I am moving slow on the borders.
