Funny, I just made my husband help me do just that! I had an extra piece of the canvas though, and this time I put that on top for easy removal and washing. I just pinned it underneath to the other canvas/batting, but plan to put velcro strips on the underside and the topper so I can stretch it a little tighter. I thought about a strong elastic too, not sure which would work better?

I have one of the June Taylor Square and Block boards, and also a small board I made out of plywood and covered. Both of them I have taken out back, hosed to get them wet and scrubbed with Dawn, sometimes bleach if really bad, and hosed to rinse. One spot only came out with lemon juice and sun. Just let the sun dry them. They are good as new. Trick is not to get them too wet, like soaking the board in the water.

I haven't tried to clean the ironing board cover. Mine has the painted grid on it. Has anyone tried to clean one like this? Afraid the printing will come off.

Gee. In a millions years, I'd never have thought to wash the cover. Thanks for the suggestion. Good quality covers are expensive.

peggi... how do you like the sheet for you ironing board cover? I really don't like the way my current cover fits my board, and it's elastic is falling out.

I had to finesse it around the corners so there were no wrinkles, but after I got that fixed it works great. Your elastic may need to be replaced, it sounds like it's degraded and/or stretched out. I recently had to replac the elastic in one of my bedsheets, which otherwise shows no wear. Makes me wonder about the quality of elastic that's being produced lately.

I thought it was just my imagination... the many that I've purchased recently seem weak. I have some very old pieces in the bottom of the notions drawer that seem much stronger.
