Quilter’s Rule Nautilus Feather tool
I saw this tool demonstrated at the Wisconsin Quilt Expo yesterday, and the demonstrator showed that if you don’t move the template you get spirals (obviously) but I don’t remember how she did move it to Make feathers! Their online .pdf instructions only show spirals...

Does anyone know how to make feather loops with it? Is there another video or instruction sheet somewhere?
Thanks in advance.

You turn the ruler so the 'branches' go in alternate directions. Mark the lines with a marker or stitching, then quilt the feathers along both sides of the line - as shown in many feather tutorials/videos. The ruler just gives you a consistant spine for the feathers.

There is a video on Youtube. The lady speaks a foreign language, but shows how to do feathers.

Thanks, everyone; you’re right, you only use this Nautilus tool to do the spines and “embellish” (make the actually feather loops) some other way. the demonstrator used something to guide the loops—I’ll contact them and see what it was.
