I use my FW all the time. It does a beautiful stitch, is quiet, doesn't take up much room. It is light weight, so it is easy to move around. I take it to retreats and sew days because it is so easy and fun.

ROFL - That sounds exactly like the question I asked about a year ago. Better be careful. If you hang around here long enough you too could end up with a FW. :lol: :lol:

I didn't think I'd ever need one. Then the other day when I had my machine set up for FMQ and wanted to sew it dawned on me that a featherweight might come in handy. Also, the only place I have to lay out my quilts is in the basement bedroom. I figured if I had a FW I could piece it right there instead of trying to get everything back to the sewing machine in the correct order. Also, they're just so darned cute.

I just might .But what is special about them :?:

Portability and from what I hear you get a nicer stitch than the newer machines. My mom has a 301 (big sister to the featherweight) and it sews like a dream. Sewing on that machine recently also helped convince me that I wanted a FW.

I enjoy using the FW much more than my Bernina! It just works. I don't have to figure out anything. I just plug it in and off it goes!

I got mine because [1] it sews really reliably well, [2] it doesn't weigh much, and [3] it is easy to self maintain. Oops, also because I got it for a reasonable price.

Congrats!!! I've got a feather weight. I haven't used mine. Mine just sits in my closet :cry: . Once my room is finished, I will be able to bring it out.

Featherweights are special! They sew the straightest stitch you could imagine, they are small and portable, very quiet and cute too! Spare parts and accessories are readily available at decent prices. Let's face it, we don't NEED them, we WANT them! LOL They are especially nice if you don't have a dedicated sewing room. It's much easier to haul out the FW than it is my Viking Sapphire, especially if you just need to do a quick repair or something. I've already shown mine to the kids when they've visited and told them don't ever think it's junk when I'm gone. Sell it to someone who will use and love it! :)
