Default Janome making noise

Does anyone out there have a Janome 6500 Professional? Mine seems to make a whineing sound that comes from the top of the machine, not the bobbin case. I thought new machines (a year old) were suppose to purr not whine. At any rate, I'm taking it in to the repair shop (they are Janome specialists) this morning to see what they can do about it. If yours sounds like mine, could you let me know?

I have a Janome Memory Craft 6600 and I have not had any trouble with it making noises. Don't have any idea what it could be but you did the right thing by taking it to a Janome specialist. I have mine maintained every year and it runs great. I bought it used and have had no problems. Good luck to you.

I would suggest you call where ever you purchased it. a phone call might save you taking it in.

So this is a new noise or is this a machine you've recently acquired? I find *noisy* to be a relative term. If you bought it from an individual, it's always good to have it thoroughly checked out.

cashs_mom.....I purchased it from a name brand online dealer and thought it ran "whiney' from the very beginning....but lately has gotten worse. The Janome sales and repair place I took it to on Monday said they are suppose to be quiet running machines. In four or five days I should have it back again. We will see.

There is a janome group on yahoo I belong to for 6500 and 6600. There is a lot of useful info on there. Even how to program certain stitches like the serpentine that our machine is lacking.

Interesting. Have you contacted the online store about the problem?

I have an old MC 3000. It made a horrible whining sound about 20 seconds after I started up so I did this. I took off every cover (one at a time and thoroughly cleaned everywhere).

Nothing. It still happened. So this time I took off every cover the same time and ran the machine listening for where the shrieking noise came from. It was from the front left so I reached a q-tip way up and in there by holding one w/ tweezers and got a big old dust bunny (moose) out and oiled all over in there too.

Wa-la. My machine has been good for beyond two years since that episode. It was in front top (but under needle plate). Don't know if this will help you.
