Has anyone used one of these? I have a machine, but thought this looked great for piecing and small projects in the RV or to take to classes and get togethers. But, looks too good to be true. What experience have you had using it for quilting? Thanks!

I just bought one for DD to learn on. It is very little, does not change feet and doesn't have too much power, but I would use it for piecing and small projects.

I bought this machine for two reasons. One, my five year old GD wants to sew like grandma. It's perfect for her. Not too much power. Wish I had my camera when she sewed her first two strips of squares together. She looked at it and said , with a big grin on her face, " Oh grandma, now I'm a quilter too. " Made my day. I also got it so when we go on vacation I can bring it along to quilt. It's a nice size for that. I say go for it.

Have you looked at the Janome Jem Gold. It's a great machine for traveling. Only weighs 12 lbs.

Thanks for the opinions. I just sent a personal message to you, Lori, before I saw your reply here. Sorry. I guess I just need to go look at it closer in person somewhere. Love the pic of the grand daughter sewing. Such a great idea! Thanks again, ladies.

we have the 'hello kitty' one..and, it is 'okay'...great for the youngest to learn on for the speed is much slower. I did loan it out to a friend for her to make a baby quilt and she was just fine w/it too. My first real sewing machine that worked like a dream is a Janome 3200 for about $300 from Hancock fabrics. I have dragged that thing everywhere and loaned it out too. Love it and it fits nicely in my RV too:))It came w/several feet and I added an open toe too. You might check in their site too and get a good run down of all the different ones. For they are all in there and you can compare. Skeat

I bought the Sew Mini for my grandaughter for her 5th birthday, she's now 8 yrs. old. She's pieced four quilt tops on it but I've since given her another machine. The bed on this machine is very short and it has no light. It was a bit hard on the eyes so we used a desk lamp, it worked okay but the lamp got in the way.
