Thanks for the clarification, MTS! A couple of the motifs are also common sashiko patterns, but these are amazing weavings, especially the reverse turtles. I really appreciate your knowledge and images!

Just to clarify - if you're refering to the images in the links I supplied in my previous post, those are NOT Sashiko.

Those images - also from Japanese culture (crab, dragon, bird, etc). - are also woven (ikat) into the same piece of fabric, just like the block designs.

It's pretty awesome.

I feel the same way about the labor and reward. It's almost a meditation of sorts. Do you have pictures of your work, Deb? I'd love to see it if you do!
