I have one of the very first Aunt Becky's made. I have tried it off and on because I learned to use a regular thimble under the quilt as well as on top.
Having said that. A friend told me she got it (she is profilic hand quilter) and tried and tried and actually threw it across the room, but picked it up and kept at it and after getting the hang of it, found it useful.
I use a regular old thimble with the top flattened as an underneith aid for hand quilting.
