    Nothing went wrong. If you weren't wanting that particular look, you could have alternated sewing the strips together, but I think the effect you got is quite charming.

    It looks like a twist at the second stitching. See how the first two rows have contrast, but then the next pair is too similar? Like the "A" end of the first pair got lined up with the "A" end instead of the "B" end ?

    I had this exact same jelly roll and it did the same way when sewed, But I did not go thru them before hand,just sewed as was in roll..Maybe that is why..

    I have done a few of these quilts (we call them friendship quilts cause you need a friend to help keep them in order) and the same thing happens to us.
