It's a problem if I try to use my 60mm (larger) rotary cutter in the slots. No problem at all if I use my standard 45mm rotary cutter. I focus on keeping my blade straight up and down, and that seems to be enough.

Yes, you need to fold the fabric. Check the video for more information. (There are some videos on Youtube also.) Typically the first fold is the one on the bolt. You then fold again so you will be cutting 4 layers of fabric. The most important thing is to make the folds absolutely parallel to each other; this is what prevents getting "V" bends in your strips. (When I do get a bend, I just cut the strip there and have some shorter strips.) When you place the ruler on the fabric, just make sure that both folds line up with lines on the ruler and all of your strips will be straight.

Also, I think there is a longer version of this ruler available so you do not have to make the extra fold and are cutting through just two layers of fabric at a time. All you have to do to prevent the dreaded "V" is line up the one fold with a line on the ruler before cutting.

It is the best money I ever spent---I put little sandpaper disk on the back side and it is the only ruler I use to cut strips. Well worth the money.
By the way, I use the 60mm Olfa Rotary cutter and it works just fine.

I have the half and quarter size. Doing a log cabin use it every day. Love this ruler and my cutting table. A real back saver.

Love mine! Have 2 sizes. The smaller one got at Joanns with coupon, the large on got from Joanns online with coupon and free shipping if I remember correctly! Wouldn't even try to cut strips without it.

So.... 9 out of 11

I guess I'll be going to Michael's with the 40% or 50% coupon next week. Thank you for your input and help, everyone!
