I don't know about the shape cut, but I have almost worn out 2 of the 6 1/2" square rulers. I use them all the time for HST's and making the smaller blocks! I know I couldn't quilt without mine!

I do use my shape cutter one for strips. I have a GO but for strips the shape cutter is actually faster if you cut multiples of same fabric.

Hmmm I will have to look closer at this shape cut :D:D:D
It looks like it would be quicker and very accurate too!!!

I have a 6 1/2" square ruler and a 12 1/2" that I use all of the time for squaring up blocks and my quilts.

I use the larger 6x 24" ruler to cut strips and use the smaller one to cut into smaller squares, to easier to hold and manipulate when cutting. I suppose I could use the bigger ruler but prefer the smaller one.
Ditto!

I love my Shape Cut. The great thing is that once you've cut strips, you can turn the Shape Cut and cut squares and rectangles without moving your fabric. Cuts your time in half (no pun intended <LOL>).

My basic rulers are a 6-1/2", 9-1/2" and 12-1/2" square and my 5 x 24" ruler. At the time I was first buying tools, the JoAnn's I was at didn't have any 6x24, so I got the next best thing.

As a beginner, I would never have purchased the Shape Cut (I wouldn't have wanted to invest that much in a hobby I did't know if I would continue doing), but I definitely would get the 6-1/2" square. If you know you're going to continue quilting, I'd recommend investing in the Shape Cut
