Default Just moved to New Jersey..

    Hello Everyone,

I recently moved to New Jersey, and looking for Quilt shops, and general quilters. I live in Montclair, but willing to travel. Any suggestions???

Have you tried googling? I got some results when I tried. I grew up near Montclair. But that was long ago. I'll bet if you contact a guild or two they could give you some good info too. Good luck!

Hi Irishredhed! Don't know of any quilt shops as I moved from NJ before I got into quilting. But if you ever need it, I know a great body shop in Montclair! Hope you never need it though.

I grew up in Kearny (near Newark) and then lived in Ringwood and West Milford as an adult. Now I am in HOT VA Beach.

There is a good shop in forked river. Called quilting possibilities. You can find them on the web. They are near exit 74 of the g.s. parkway. I understand there is some kind of quilting or fabric store in Howell nj also but have never been and don't know the name. I'll bet there is something in the Princeton area too but don' t know for sure.
I'm further south than you, near Ocean City and so don't know the more northern stores.

Hard to find around there. I left that area just about 4 yrs ago...my favorite place to find fabric was at church sales and estate sales but I love 30's style quilts. Most of the quilters I know there took trips to PA. and ordered a lot from Keepsake Quilting!

Here's a few link for quilt shops and guilds. As always, it's best to call ahead or check the web sites to determine if they still exist. Wishing you the best in finding quilty fabric and friends in your new home.

First of all, welcome to NJ. I'm from Secaucus. Here are a few suggestions. Budding Star Quilts in Lebanon. Acme Country Fabrics in Pequannock. Aardvark Quilt Shop in Morris Plains. Those are the 3 that I've been to. There's also, Fabric Inspirations in Manalapan, Mouse Creek Quilts in Howell, Pennington Quilt Works in Pennington, Quilting Possibilities in Forked River and the Village Quilter in Mt Holly. Also, I belong to a small Quilt Guild (about 12 of us) We meet at the Lutheran Church in Secaucus on the first & third Tuesday's of the month, in the evenings. We'd love to have you join us. There is also the Brownstone Quilt Guild. Hope this info helps.

There is a great shop on rt. 31 in Pennington, NJ., Pennington Quilt Works, I was there just a few weeks ago. Another on High St, in Burlington, NJ., Olde City Quilts. I used to live in NJ and escaped 11 years ago. Sorry I have forgotten the names of shops but There used to be one in Clinton, NJ, too. Lambertville also had a nice shop but not sure if it is there any more. Montclair is a very nice area and you will have fun exploring your new home area. Please keep us posted on whet you find.
    peace

Welcome to NJ! Pennington Quilt Works is around the corner from me. Very nice shop - lots of selection. Also like Olde City Quilts in Burlington, NJ. Don't believe the one in Lambertville is there any longer. Also one in Manalapan, NJ - sorry can't remember name at the moment but will probably be heading there in the not too distant future. Nice bright shop with very contemporary fabrics. Good selection. The Little Shop in Haddonfield, NJ (South Jersey) is also a nice shop. Holler if you'd like to get together at some point.
