I would think the "first come-first served" rule would apply here. You got to the fabric first and you got what you wanted. She should be happy you didn't take all of it.

Do you think that if she had the fabric first and needed a specific amount she would have cut it in half? NOT!! Takes all kinds. Now if I just wanted it and had no purpose planned, I may have asked how much she needed, but NO not when I had a plan for it.

Some people are so rude! They think because they want they should have. Ummm, not always the way it goes darling! LOL Good for you for getting what you needed.

My son is in the Marines and I brag about him all the time. Some people just role their eyes like "why is he doing THAT" and others say to tell him thank-you.

Tell your son THANK-YOU from me!

First. Thank you to all that serve our country.

About the fabric. I believe you were meant to have it. If she was to get it she would have gotten it first. Enjoy using it and don't let her attitude get to you. Forgive her. You will feel better and then proceed with your quilt.

Again. Thank you son for me.

Joan and TN Donna-thank both of you for having sons who serve. I have a son in Afghanistan serving in the Navy and one in the Army.

I don't know, you can be real flexible with backing. I might have found out why she needed the fabric, and then decided if I wanted to share it with her. If she needed it to finish her top, I'd have most definately let her take it.
