    Usually mine is 2.5 also. It is the default setting so I just leave it unless I want a shorter or longer stitch. Then I just adjust it

    Are you at the piecing stage (2.5) or the quilting stage?
    At the quilting stage, you are going to drop your feed dogs or use a walking foot ...
    if you drop your feed dogs, then the stitch length isn't an issue ... if you are using the walking foot, because of the layers of quilt top, batting, and backing ... I usually go to a 4 <wave>
