I understand! Just when I thought I had my spending under control, Connecting Threads sent out their clearance catalog and DH said: "Oh honey, I'm sure you'll find something you like." (He was right.)

If I remember correctly, your moratorium said you could buy quilt backings and fabric for borders -- or to finish quilts. So order the fabric for a "quilt back" and you can always decide to change your mind and use it for a front (hehe) then you may need a couple of complimentary fabrics for borders and such! I can always find a way in my mind to rationalize it.

My moratorium begins on January 1. So I am stocking up! I suggest you do the same! And that fabric is beautiful.

You know, if you love irises that much that you have 50 varieties, and this fabric line is unique and calls to you that strongly, then get it. I've passed on a few pieces of fabric that really, really called out to me (much more than just, boy that's really pretty). Five years later I still regret that I didn't get it. I've spent time googling trying to track it down and it's just not available. I kick myself for passing it up. Start your fabric diet after this with the commitment to not buy after this purchase.

Talk someone in to buying it for you for Christmas, them you don't have to feel guilty. Or as someone else said there are no quilt police. I have myself on a diet not a moratorium. I have only bought a little fabric for the last year. Mostly just bits and pieces to finish up projects. I also have been making myself finish at least one UFO before I can start something else. I have a project I have been dying to start that I won't let myself start until I have several more UFO's done.
