Does anyone know how to buy this fabric which is hand dyed from India. I saw it in a store in another state and didn't buy it. I wish I had. I've tried Fabric.com and Thousand of bolts.com

Any other ideas?

Try googling East Indian fabric

www.globalexchangestore.org/Kalamkari-Fabric

I found lots of places on the web. If you're looking for a particular fabric, good luck!

if you have an Indian neighborhood in your area you might be able to find some.

i purchased some a few months ago in Iselin, NJ - they have a large Indian population there with many fabric shops that only sell fabrics from India.

We have a couple of stores here that are Jewelry & Fabric stores, and carry Indian products. Maybe look for one of those.

If you still haven't found any kalamkari, check out:

http://www.sundarafabrics.com/

It's a online fabric store, based in FL, with lots of Indian fabric (kalamkari, ikat, block-prints).

Check out the websites for major quilt shows- Vermont Quiltfest, etc-, and head to the vendor listings. Many have a link and you might be able to find some ethic fabric vendors. I used to work in NYC, but of course wasn't into quilting then.
