Kits can be a great way to start out as it removes a lot of the stress of picking out fabric - something that can be very overwhelming in a well stocked LQS. If the kit is precut, even better! Classes are a must! Have taken several classes at my LQS (Sunshine Stitches) and must say I learn something every time I am in the shop or in class.
