    Default kona white cotton

is it safe to keep kona white in a clear plastic bag for storing a long time or what would be the best way to keep it from yellowing/graying I know I won't get to do anything with it for a while.thanks

I actually keep mine in a large zip top bag .. I have not had it change color. I keep my Kona Black in a zip just to keep it from picking up lint.

I would personally use a pillowcase as fabric needs to breathe.

I don't recommend storing any fabric in plastic long term. If there are temperature fluctuations in the space, generally you will get some condensation of moisture on the inside of the plastic, resulting in mildewed fabric there. I just keep mine out of light in a drawer.

plastic is seldom a good idea when it comes to storing any fabric- especially where it can be humid. a pillow case is a much better choice- or any cloth bag. even folding a sheet around it or some muslin will help protect it. keep It out of direct sun light and take it out, give it a shake & refold it in a different way (so creases don't become permanent) every now & then.

Yellowing and greying? How long do you expect to hold on to it? Wow! I assume any discoloration may be the finishing/sizing chemicals that are applied to the fabric during production. My fabric never changes color and I don't pre-wash.

I would think that you would have to have the fabric a really long time for it to discolor.

I think the pillowcase would work well. I keep my Kona cotton (white, snow and black) in my closed closet. Lori S, you are so correct on your post about how attracted lint is to Kona Black. YIKES !!!

Pillow case or wrap in muslin... but im with them.. for it to discolor it would take a really long time.. unless its in the sun, and/or a humid room...

I just bought a 20 yard bolt of Kona Premium White. Yum!! I am not worried about discoloration...it will hit some projects waaaaay before it does.if ever.
