large stitch quilting is often done with embroidery floss or perle cotton-
it is simply a running stitch- between an 1/8" & 1/4" long- goes quickly and on the right quilt is quite wonderful. used often on primatives (wool quilts- flannels-homespuns) old fashioned looking traditional quilts

I found a blog with big stitch on it; let me look and see if I can re-find it.

There's an article in the latest issue of McCalls Quilting. They even have a video. Look at McCallsQuilting.com and click on videos.

Here's a blog that gives some great pictures. http://sewprimitive.blogspot.com/200...-examples.html
I have done big stitch and love it. I use perle cotton and larger needle. No hoop. I did mine on these quilts for sons for Christmas last year. Apparently it's only letting me download one quilt. But I hope you can see what it is.

Billie Lauder is famous for using this technique. I just googled her and got this link to a website with a lot of her videos. One of them is about Big Stitch quilting.

    Enjoy!
