    Default Layout options - SAS

I have yet to make the snail trial border ... but the middle is done.

    Here are my layout options:

Option # 4 - or the last one - is the "original layout"

Each has its own look. Maybe it’s just me but with the dark pieces , my eye keeps trying to make a recognizable secondary design?

They are all very nice but I think I prefer #2. It just seems a little brighter with the lighter fabrics

I like the third one best and to make it even better-in my opinion-would be to make the blocks that have some star points into star blocks. To do so you need only flip some of the parts of those blocks. You've put a lot of work into this great looking quilt.

You have a kaleidoscope with how the design changes as you shift the block.

    I like all of them.

Are there more blocks for this ?

Or is this "blocks ready for the border"?

Reason for asking - the secondary designs show up more with more blocks.

I like the third and fourth layouts. The colors look great in all of them but I like the look of those two.

For me, looking at all four options - without enlarging the photos individually - I see the most pleasing pattern to be #4 followed closely by #3. When I open them individually, I see the different patterns and like something about all of them but it's the overall view that I think you'll see when this lovely quilt is in use. So, #4 followed by #3 is my final answer!

BTW - I am always in awe of your beautiful work! Thank you for sharing

(I just reread my post below before hitting Submit, and it feels rather critical, but I want to be clear - I think your quilt is beautiful! It's just interfering with my OCD, so I thought I would post this in case you wanted to look at a different aspect of the layout. Please please don't let my little weirdsies diminish your amazing work!)

For me, they're all a bit asymmetrical, so they lack the flow I associate with a storm at sea. Your diamond blocks are all arranged consistently (I think that's what you were asking for input on), but the square-in-a-square-in-a-square blocks aren't pointing in consistent directions. This makes the areas where the dark fabric meets up inconsistently shaped, which is where I find my eye being drawn.

So, the fourth one is the actual "pattern" and I realized from people's comments that the squares weren't set up properly LOL ... thank you for that, I would have sewn them wrong hahahaha

I'm working on the borders, so once I have that done, I'll put some up and put up a new pic
