    Which layout?

I've got all my blocks ready to go, but I'm starting to rethink the layout. Assuming these picture attachments work, which would you pick? Zigzags, or pinwheels? And which border layout? (The outermost border color is my bias tape color selection)Name: Screen Shot 2018-06-03 at 8.01.17 PM.png

Zigzag 3 , Border B gets my vote.

Here's why: I like how the dark pink zigzags form a visual stairway "up" on the left and stairway "down" on the right.

Border B brings out the pale blue from the focal strip. (I'm not a fan of the pink border because it gets lost against the design. The first border--white only, if that's how I'm interpreting it-- is okay, too.)

THANK YOU! I hate when I start to question my original design, because then my brain gets into the "What if!" pattern and I can't move forward. I appreciate an outward view on what others are drawn to
Thank you, I love the great people here on quilting board!

As usual, I’m odd one out. I like the pinwheels! Border B is my fave.

Zigzag 3, then light blue stop border, then light/white, then finish with pink

Any of the ZigZags work for me. The pinwheels look too chaotic for my taste. I like Border B best.

I like all the zigzags. They all work. My preference for the border is border B.

I think the blue border gives is balance by bringing the blue to the frame and doesn't distract from the matching strips. As far as the pattern, I think you will drive yourself crazy overthinking it. They are all good choices. Which one does you eye keep going to? That is the one to pick.

I don't care for the "pinwheel" one - because - even though the stripsets were placed straight, they give a wonky effect to me - which is sort of giving me a headache. Although there is a "lot" of movement in that setting - I think it looks sort of "clumpy"

As far as the other settings - if you go "up" and then "down" - would you change "direction" again for the other border? If you are having another border?

What I did - because I could not really tell the differences - I printed out this thread - and then I cut the various options a part.

Another choice that I didn't find is to make the steps go down on the left but back up on the right. Sort of a "heart" design. Border? At first I didn't see the blue as it's pretty light but the pink next to the pink of the steps is a bit much. It may look different in real time. Have you tried the pattern fabric as the border? Do you have a bit of the darker mauve that's in the patterned fabric?

Thanks for all the feedback ladies! I've decided to go with zigzag #2, as it seems the most popular, and then border B, as long as I've got enough fabric!

bearisgray and JustAbitCrazy- I agree, once I posted it, I wasn't sold on the pinwheel either. Thanks!

illinois- I punched the 'heart' design in on my computer and didn't love it, so I skipped it as an option. I LOVE the patterned fabric, but I'm not sure I've got enough to use it as a border, whereas I know I've got enough of the other two to work with. If I'm not sold on the blue once I get it cut, I'll turn the strips into my binding and go buy some mauve or more of the pattern, assuming I can find it. Thanks for the suggestions!

I appreciate it when an original poster responds to the posts/suggestions made to the original post like you have done.
