some selvedges are a lot wider than they need to be IMHO.
Have you ever noticed that? Our fabrics are getting narrower and costing us more.

I met a man from South Africe visiting the U.S. for the first time. He could not understand why we feed and water our grass to make it grow and then cut it off and do the same thng over and over again!!!

I have so much fabric that is still waiting for just the right project because I can't stand cutting it up. It loses so much then. Did I hear somebody say "stash"? No wonder I have so much.

Yes, I agree....When I was organizing my stash and puting them on cardboard I found that my older fabrics (20+yrs) were much wider (45-48") and that now they are 42-44" most of the time and cost at least 3x what they use to cost. Maybe they're better quality, now. ;-)
