I like them both too, but, I am still with #1. I love how you have the frame around the pictures. Seems to make the pictures stand out more

I like them both. I really like scrappy quilts.
I have a preference for #2.

With that said, what about combining them BOTH!
Yeah I know, gotta have one in the crowd. haha lol

You could have the squares, then the framing lines, and then the sashing with the little squares, followed with the borders.
I really like the little squares. They seem to make the scrappy look really special in this setting.
