    What is the lightest batting on the market? My dh complains my quilts are too heavy. TIA!

    Our group uses the $3.50 yard one from Joann's for charity quilts cause it makes them lighter. I used cotton in mine and yes they are heavy

    Poly battings are very light weight. You can get a low loft in poly. Just make sure its bonded fibers or a scrim is used. Some of the poly battings will have fiber migration and come through the weave of the fabric and beard. Most of the newer polys do not have this issue , but there are still a few being sold that do .

    The batting is only part of the weight. A quilt with lots of seams weighs more than one with less seams.
    For example a quilt made with 6" square vs a log cabin made with 1" logs. (finished dimensions)
