Boston, I like your "experiment" a lot, especially the last one with the one solid triangle. The batiks would be very pretty, too, and would almost be a whole different quilt look. I've noticed your wish your were back in Massachusetts. Well, I wish I were back in Oklahoma where I lived for 53 years, or in Texas, where I grew up and lived until I was 22.

I have a suggestion. Take your two blocks of strips, like you have in the first picture. Put one block face up with the strips going east-west. Put the second block face down on top of it, with the strips going north-south. Sew a quarter inch around all 4 sides. Then cut it in a big X. You will get 4 blocks.
