A little help, please - Log cabin type
I have found a cute wonky Log Cabin block to do. My drawing is not wonky, but gives the idea. The center block is a single square with the strips all going around it.
Am I correct in thinking that the only way (or best way) to make it is with a partial-seam technique for this center?

Thanks all!

If you want the seams as shown yes. If you are doing a solid or read as solid (or the same two fabrics for each color) and don't mind switching your seams you could do it this way to avoid the partial seam

Thanks, Kassaundra! That's one I never thought of! It could work as the whole block is just 6" and there are 3 rounds added to the center. I will try sewing it your way and see if the extra seam bothers me!

If you decide you don't like the extra seams, you could start the block using the extra seam for the first round and then switch to using partial seams for all the rounds after that. Since your entire block is only 6" that is what I'd do in order to avoid doing a partial seam on that first 1" block. Your next rounds will have plenty of length to allow a long enough partial seam to hold the first strip secure while you sew the remaining strips of that round and also have enough unsewn length on strip one (of rounds 2 on) to make it easy to flip strip one out of the way while attaching strip four. Hope that makes sense.
