I was wondering if anyone has made a baby blanket with sheep on it. I have a friend that is having a baby and I was picturing in my head. A quilt with sheep jumping all over it. I wanted to use the fuzzy sheep looking material. Has anyone done this? I was trying to figure out how to make it look like sheep? Before I spent money on fabric to experiment on I thought I would ask all you wonderful quilters. Thank you. :D

This is one that I did for a friend. The sheep are acutally cut outs from a brown sweatshirt, with the back as the 'right side'. It was a cutout from clip art. I did the eyes in a single flower stitch from my decorative stitches selection.

    this is the overall pic

It was the blanket stitch setting on my machine. The sheep are actually fleece, the faces from the sweatshirt. It was so fun to make.....

How cute are those, really! I get such good ideas here... it is finding the time to try and execute them that is the problem...

Deb, your quilt is adorable :D:D:D
Thinblebug, that quilt pattern is so cute, I would love to use the sheep in that one with a few fence rails scattered around, too.

I made a sheep quilt for our first great granddaughter. I appliqued the sheep and used some fake sheep fur for their bodies.

The Stash-Buster Quilts book by Lynne Edwards has a cute pattern for a sheep quilt that finishes at 40 by 40 inches. The pattern is called Sheep in the Meadow.

Not sure if I can take a photo of it without a copyright violation so I won't but you might want to see if the book is available in your local library. Or use it as an excuse to add to your quilting library :-)
