You might want to check with the dealer. I was told not to use the metal bobbins in mine because the machine is computerized.

you will learn to read the manual when you hace messed up the machine. If it came with plastic bobbins, that is what you are supposed to use. Ask your dealer.

I would guess if your machine is an electronic computerized machine you shouldn't use metal bobbins. Better safe than sorry.

agreed the newer machines are made for lighter weight bobbins

This is what the dealer told me. I know everyone has their own opinions, but I do what he told me and I haven't had any problems.
The only machines that I use metal bobbins in are the industrial type machines.

Seems I read the metal bobbins get hotter as they spin, I can't remember the rest. Anyone know?

Gosh... don't throw them out... send them to ME! I'll use em!lol.

Actually, I believe that somewhere, Billy or Brenda or Char said (basically) use the metal bobbins in the all metal bobbin cases. But if you have a bobbin case that's got plastic bits, then use the plastic bobbins in that. It's a weight issue for proper tensioning I think....

I was told by a lady that sold machines that you are to stick with the type of bobbin your machine originally came with, she said never inter-change them.

my previous machine ate a plastic bobbin. i don't use them anymore.

My Viking will only work with Viking bobbins and then they have to be the latest ones they make. I have 4 machines of different brands and all 4 take different type bobbins.
