Hello everyone and happy Sunday! I am wondering if quilters are still paying to have their tops quilted by professionals since the Covid pandemic.

I have my own machine so I am not. However, I know at least one of the quilt shops around here is doing curbside service....you drop off quilt...they come out and pick it up...when ready...they call...bring it out ….so yep ...I know some still are.....

I am not getting in touch with my long arm quilter but I think she will be very very busy when things settle down and hopefully that will be soon

Yes, but my situation may be different from most. My long arm quilter is health compromised, so she did not mix with anyone but her physician husband until last week. (He is retired and pursues his second career as a game designer online from home). She has a large bin on her front porch for to leave your quilt, back, batting and when she is finished, your quilt is put in a large bag plastic bag and returned to the bin. She has continues to work at a slow but steady pace since the COVID-19 shutdown. I dropped off two tops to her this past week with social distancing and masks.. Just trying to support a local business. And yes, I expect she will be VERY busy as the world returns to some version of normal. Glad I go mine in before the flood of tops made during the lockdown.

I’ve had 3 or 4 customers drop off quilts to be quilted in the past couple months.

I spoke to a friend, a professional longarmer, yesterday. She is busier than ever.

yes, we are still getting quilts from clients. I have them bag it, drop into the washtub on my front porch (since we are isolating due to husband's health risks)our dog's "announcing" that we have a visitor means it gets brought into the house quickly. I then put it in a box in the basement quilting room after wiping off the plastic bag and it sits for 3-4 days before I lay it out in order received. Once finished it's just reversed with them leaving a check under the rock in the washtub. All my long arming friends are doing similar routines and yes, we are all getting quilts--if you have some ready, I would suggest that you contact your quilter to arrange a drop-off--once things open up more I expect we will get many, many quilts.

Yes, my LQS has 2 computerized machines and she's quite busy, thank goodness because I really want her to survive this shutdown! She's been taking the same precautions as others listed here.
