I have the embroidery foot (Q), isn't this different then the (O) FM foot? Michele

What foot are you using to FM? Is it the (Q) foot for embroidery? Maybe thats why you are having a hard time with it..............Michele

I got mine from Amazon.com. I looked up the numbers on the brother site and then went to Amazon, saved a lot of money that way on Brother feet.

Yes, I just looked and I think you are right. I have had 2 Brother machines and one has a Q on it and the other that looks very similar has no notation. So, I think I'll go online and see if I can find the O foot and give that a try.

Thank you to everyone.

I ordered the "O" foot and hope this will solve the problem. As soon as I read everyone's posts I went back to my owner's manual and sure enough it states that the O foot you need for free motion quilting is an option.

I ordered it from allbrands.com and think it was a little expensive at $35, but gotta have it! I think it was about the same price at brother.com.
