The lapquilts I'm making are simply and easy to make . everyone seems to love them. Not sure if they are being nice or not but they do seem to be a hit.
They are given to veterands at the hospice I volunteer at
If you go to my albums look for quilts for veterans.

I have a couple of ideas:

If the Armed Forces interests you, Marcia at quilterscache.com has free block designs that represent each branch - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, etc.

My other idea is a red, white, and blue string quilt. String quilts are easy and look great!

I love the rail fence pattern or even a turning twenties pattern. Both look good with the right material.

Here is a free pattern for one I just finished for Quilts Of Valor. I really like the border. http://www.redroosterfabrics.com/quilt/current.php

I am going to try to attach some pictures of my quilt that I just got back - no binding on it yet. My nephew wanted a quilt for his wife, something patriotic because her birthday is July 4th. I used what I had in my stash. The red has little gold sparkles (I purchased it for Christmas fabric) the white has little stars in it (also a Christmas fabric) I think it came together nicely. It is laying on top of my queen size bed. You can really make is any size you want.

Are you talking about the ones on Quilters Cache? They're in the section that is organized alphabetically.

Army - http://www.quilterscache.com/A/ArmyStarBlock.html
Navy - http://www.quilterscache.com/N/NavyStarBlock.html
Air Force - http://www.quilterscache.com/A/AirForceStarBlock.html

These were a little harder to find, she has them under T for "The"
Marine - http://www.quilterscache.com/T/TheMarinesStarBlock.html
Coast Guard - http://www.quilterscache.com/T/TheCo...StarBlock.html

The Marine one is my favorite, I think it is sooo pretty!
