Default Looking for a pattern to make fabric eggs

Looking for a pattern to make fabric eggs. Or, can I take a fabric ball pattern and just elongate each segment in the middle of each to make it more oval?

Sorry for the mega sized picture. I made these using the wedge shaped fabric then Modpodged onto styrofoam eggs and then added trim. Have also done with plastic eggs.

I did a weekend craft day with a Brownie Troupe years ago and we just glued the plastic eggs that you buy by the dozen together. Then the girls picked fabric scraps to glue on the egg. As long as the "patches" are small no shaping was needed. We did have some of the fancy edge craft scissors and large paper punches that they used. One mom donated a bunch of rick rack they used to make fancy stripes and the loop holder. Then they did a branch tree to hang them on.
