looking for quilting or other craft ideas using denim and flannel
So its the first of the year and all my holiday projects are done. We are on a major budget right now (in the process of starting a new banquet hall business) so I am not shopping for fabric or any kind. But I found myself bored and in the mood to create something. I have somewhat of a stash of scraps and small pieces of yardage to work with, but only scraps of batting. Yesterday I discovered 6 old pairs of jeans that I had stashed away in my closet for future crafting use. Decided to make some rag windows pillows that I saw on this site http://apassionatequilter.blogspot.c...al-part-i.html
So these are way too cute, and I'm having a blast making them. Earlier today DH is out and about and sees a yard sale that has lots of jeans....negotiates with the lady and buys me 30 pairs of jeans for 50 cents each. I got plenty to play with now!
The greatest find in this pile of old jeans...there are 4 pairs of flannel lined jeans, all like new. That's like a double score in my book! Now I have denim to work with, plus flannel to work with. I am looking for ideas that would combine denim and flannel...4 pairs of jeans worth of it So I ask of you fellow quilters...what crafty ideas do you have where I can best utilize these jeans?

How about the denim circle raw edge quilt? A couple have been posted on QB and although they are heavy to work on, they always look so nice. There is a free tutorial on the net but it isn't hard to figure out yourself. Just decide on a circle size and trace and cut out of the denim. Draw a square on the wrong side of the circle to give you guidelines to sew on and the edges to fold back. You can put your square of flannel on the circle and stitch the circles edges down.

I agree with Tartan. I made a denim circle rag quilt with batiks over the summer and I am very happy with it. Last week I actually started on a second one. This one is going to have flannel squares.. I can't wait to finish it
