I *finally* got brave and cut the outer borders for my quilt, and was so proud of myself that the top was *finally* going to be finished today.
As I was sewing the last seam..I noticed a flaw in the fabric. When I picked at it a little bit, sure enough... there is a pencil size eraser hole caused by the flaw. I could cry.
The fabric is a large floral, with a black background. I was thinking of bonding a small piece of black underneath it, and darning over the hole. Anyone had success doing this? Hopefully it won't show when it's quilted. *crossing fingers*
Or any other suggestions? I can't believe the problems I have had with this queen size quilt, and I was SO happy to be done with it. And now this :(
Thanks in advance

Sorry you ran into a problem!! How frustrating!!
Perhaps bonding a piece to the back might work.
If it is a large hole and if I think it would be really noticeable, I would probably cut the border fabric just before the flaw and try to match the pattern in the border and resew/reattach the fabric. The border would have a cross seam but if matched up exactly it won't be noticed.

Do you have a focal fabric in your quilt? You could applique something that you fussy cut from it onto several places on your border. That way it would look like your were being artistic and that it was intentional on your part.

I hadn't thought of an applique, and love that idea! Thank you so much :)
Used to do that all the time when the girls were little and I mended their clothes. I usually embroidered over the rip...a strawberry, a flower, etc.
I just knew you all have some ideas, and thanks again. I can sleep peacefully tonight knowing that I don't have to rip off that 94" border and start over.
