I have loaded them both ways on both frames (I have a frame for my midarm too). Sometimes it is easier to load the layers individually for larger quilts and let the quilt rack do the sandwiching for you (I don't do any basting when I load them this way) especially if you don't have a large space to lay out a queen or king size quilt.

The Hinterberg has three rollers, not two. There are two at the top and one at the bottom. See the diagram here http://www.hinterberg.com/prod-Easy_...ame_Kit-7.aspx (it's the exact same frame as the other one, you just have to provide more of the wooden parts with the cheaper one). In my opinion, not having to baste a quilt sandwich is well worth having a frame with rollers.

It was not hard to finish at all. It takes 3 10' conduit pipes from Home Depot ($10 each when I got mine) and a 10' piece of 1x8. I sanded and stained the wooden parts, but you don't even have to stain it if you don't want to. I had no help with it at all. Very simple to do.
