    Default Loving this wool batting!

Hello all...well, I'm quilting a quilt I pieced using my late father-in-law's shirts. I used rail fence pattern for one (for my SIL) and Yellow Brick Road for my sweet DH's... I put a "pull-together" brown piece in the middle of all the rail fences and used it throughout the YBR. Anyway...I'm hand-quilting my husbands and had read here on the QB that wool batting was just so nice for many reasons. I'm LOVING it! It's going to drape so prettily and the quilting is just so smooth! It's a little "puffier" than the 80/20 I've used before, but oh-so-pretty! I can definitely tell a difference in the quilting. Someone said the lanolin in the wool makes it glide and I believe it! Thanks for listening! If I could figure out how to post a picture from my phone, I'd do it! Happy Quilting!

I used wool batt on a quilt for my DD when she lived in South Dakota. I wanted warmth but not weight. Oh my! Buttah! I will use it again!

I have yet to try it but many of the quilting instructors recommend it.

Back in the stone age I majored in fashion marketing...I learned in my Textile class that wool is cool as well as warm.
It just depends on how you layer it with other fabrics and the type of fabric. I wear my wool trouser socks even in the summer with no problem. They breathe. Wool batting has such a nice drape to it also. I want to use wool ppbatting on my next quilt....

Does anyone have a problem with wool items? I purchased some wool batting & am now concerned. I purchased a hat made of alpaca at a craft show. Wore it while shoveling snow & my head was so itchy I finished w/o the hat. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm hand quilting a quilt with a wool batting. I love, love, love it!

ctrysass2012, I too am alergic to alpaca. Hate the stuff. No problems with wool... esp the batting. It's so soft.
