I have just finished HQ my first queen size quilt. It is a beautiful pattern called Blue Willow, all 12 white on white squares with 12 different blue designs. White and blue sashing w/9P. The next quilt, for my older daughter, same pattern, but with southwest colors in the squares (gee I wish I had a picture). I bought varigated thread and now I can't decide whether to hand or machine quilt. Please help!

Both quilts were for Christmas gifts (2010) so I guess there is no time frame. I really need to know if anyone here has HQ with the varigated thread. Since I have only hq One quilt, and have MQ only small size quilts, I don't want to put all those hours in, and it not look pretty.

I use variegated thread when I hand stitch. As long as it is 100% cotton I don't worry about it sayinjg "hand quilting" thread. Never had a problem. I posted on I hand stitched on pictures site under 5 Inch is a cinch by Pat Speth. I used varigated on black. Have fun with it. It's your quilt and your unique project.
