Magnetic Pin Cushions and Computerized Sewing Machines

They use magnetic hoops with machines. Also the type of drive used in the machines is not the same as years ago so it is not affected by magnetics. I use magnetic hoops, pin cushions seam guage, no issues whatsoever.

I have read before on this board that magnetic pin cushions might cause problems with the electronics of a computerized sewing machine and I have avoided using a magnetic pin cushion or parts bowl because I was worried that I might mess up my machine, but if other folks are using them without problems I would love to be able to have at least one for my straight pins.
Has anyone here that uses a magnetic pin cushion or parts bowl had any problems with their computerized sewing machine because of the magnets?

When I bought my new Bernina machine a few years ago, it came with a magnetized stylus to change the stitch selections. So, I figure if they sold me a magnet to sit on the front of the machine case, it can't be doing any harm. I also have 3 magnetized pin cushions and have never had an issue with them.

I will occasionally hand mine to my some and he gets $1 for each pin he finds on the floor. There's always 2-3 but its way better than finding them with my foot!

Thank you everyone for your help and advice. I couldn't wait and went to Harbor Freight last night and got a magnetic wand for picking up pins (can't believe I didn't already have this tool) and a 6" magnetic parts bowl. I'm also on the hunt for cute dishes to make my own magnetic pin dishes.

They make magnetic hoops to be used on sewing/embroidery hoops that are very strong. If that doesn't interfere with the computer in your machine, I doubt that a magnetic pin dish would either. That being said, I would place the pin cushion near the machine, but not "on it".

My hubby bought mea magnetic pin holder which I love, I’ve had it sitting next to my Viking for 3-4 years now without any problems. I was worried at first but then asked at my dealers shop and found out they use them too

I guess you could make any cute dish/plate magnetic with a little magnet glued to the bottom.
