Should a quilted tablecloth be made with batting or something thinner or just to top and back. I want it to hang right, not look like a bed cover. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have made a few table toppers and place mats. I use warm and natural in them all. They hang fine.

I first made some placemats without anything and the plates kept banging on the table also with batting you have natural hot mats.

I am putting on the last border on a table cloth ordered by my DDIL. She wants the batting inside so that's what I'm going to do. It is all a personal preference.

Use Quilter's Dream Request weight cotton. It has a very soft drape.

I have seen them with flannel as the batting, these were very soft and hung nicely :D:D:D

Here are a couple that I made using batting, and they hang just fine.

My only suggestion is to wash the fabrics before making them into quilts. I did a tablecloth without batting between the layers but there was some shifting after I washed it. I wished I had washed before stitching.
